Kitty discovers she is flammable

Let me start by saying we love our cat.  She wandered up to us outside our home one day and we just all went from there.  We've discovered several things about our little feline friend along the way, and I'd like to share what we discover piece by piece.

I had no idea that cats could light up so quickly.  If you've never had the misfortune of accidentally letting your cat walk nearby a lit dinner candle, you might not see this coming.  I sure didn't.  Kitty usually isn't let up on the table, but we were already done with dinner and she wondered what we were up to - so she sniffed the candle and walked on by.  Then the last bit of her swishy tail swished over the lit flame.  And woosh.  About 1/3 of her longhair tail went bright red.  I was so shocked and didn't know quite what to do - so I just blew her out - which worked!  She was shocked too.  I doubt she felt it much, because she only just turned around to notice what had happened when I got it blown out.  I'll bet that's an image she'll never forget - seeing your tail on fire is something I imagine must be a rather arresting moment.  At least she didn't feel anything, we don't think.

So Kitty now walks around with about an inch of fur missing on her right upper tail.  And if you ever have one of your cats strangely catch fire, consider blowing them out - it worked for me.  And I can't believe cats would appreciate water all that much.

But that's not the normal adventure for Kitty.  It usually involves food.  And since we all love food here, she's in good company.  We'll let you know what we discover as we go along.
